      Maintain respect for our planet

We know that protecting the planet’s resources is essential to creating a healthy, balanced environment for future generations. While we haven’t reached our goal yet, we’re committed to continuous progress. Our ambition is to move one step at a time toward climate neutrality - sharing our actions, challenges, and learnings along the way.

      Climate change strategy

We recognize the significant climate impacts across our value chain - from manufacturing energy use to transport fuels and waste management. Key risks include rising costs from carbon pricing, unstable energy markets, and severe weather disrupting material supply. At the same time, there’s growing opportunity in the demand for low-carbon playgrounds.

In 2023, we worked with an external consultant to assess short, medium, and long term risks related to infrastructure, supply chains, policy changes, market shifts, and technology transitions. We’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint, improving energy efficiency, supporting afforestation, adapting our operations, and aligning with evolving regulations and client expectations.

      Smart Production Planning

At HAGS, sustainability doesn’t stop at product design - it’s built into every part of our operations, including how we plan and run our warehouse and production facilities.

Thoughtful warehouse and production planning plays a vital role in reducing our environmental impact while supporting long term business success.

Our sustainability driven planning doesn’t just benefit the environment, it supports long term success and builds trust:

      • Enhancing our CSR profile
Integrating sustainability into production shows our commitment to responsible business, attracting customers, employees, and investors who share our values.

      • Reputation & competitive advantage
Being smart about how we operate strengthens our image as a forward-thinking, ethical company - setting us apart in the marketplace.

How our Production Planning supports the planet

      1 Optimising raw material use

By carefully planning what we produce and when, we minimise overproduction and material waste. This ensures raw materials, energy, and labour are used efficiently, reducing strain on natural resources.

      2 Reducing waste and defects

Better planning means fewer mistakes. By minimising scrap and defective products, we send less waste to landfill and lower our environmental footprint.

      3 Cutting energy use

Keeping production lines running smoothly and at full capacity reduces idle time and energy waste. This helps us lower greenhouse gas emissions and support our carbon reduction goals.

      4 Minimising carbon footprint

Aligning operations with sustainable energy practices directly contributes to our efforts to reduce emissions across the value chain.

5 Lower resource use, higher efficiency

Every well planned batch of production allows us to do more with less—less time, less energy, and fewer materials.

      Use of powder paint

We use powder coating to achieve a durable, high-quality finish with lower environmental impact. Powder coating contains no solvents, generates minimal waste, and complies with environmental regulations. It’s fully recyclable and safer for both workers and the environment. As described by our Manufacturing Manager: “We do not use zinc in powder coatings,” reflecting our commitment to safer, more sustainable materials while maintaining product longevity and performance.

      Welding and bending

We use advanced welding and bending techniques to improve production efficiency while reducing environmental impact. Our robotic welding process saves energy and ensures consistent quality. As our Manufacturing Manager explains: “Robot welding - saves energy consumption, and it is the most effective process.” By optimizing bending and machining processes, we minimize waste and material use, supporting our commitment to sustainable, responsible manufacturing.

      Assembly

At HAGS, our assembly process is designed with sustainability in mind. We optimize material use, reduce packaging waste, and recover heat from the powder coating process to warm our assembly areas - lowering overall energy consumption. This efficient approach reflects our commitment to reducing environmental impact throughout every stage of production.

      Use of wet paint

Unlike solvent-based paints, our water-based coatings reduce harmful emissions and comply with strict environmental standards. This approach not only protects the environment but ensures vibrant, durable colors on our products. By choosing safer, sustainable materials, we create long-lasting equipment that meets both quality and environmental expectations.
“All wooden elements are painted using paints from reputable suppliers. Solvent-based paints have a greater overall impact on the environment than water-based paints. Therefore, to minimize the impact on the environment, HAGS uses water-based paints in a wide range of colors.” - Quality Manager

      Recycling

Rooted in Nordic design principles, we prioritise renewable and recycled materials that can be reused at the end of their life. We minimize plastic use, incorporating it only when essential for safety or comfort.
