      Project background and goals

      Located by Qingjian Lake in Suzhou Industrial Park, the upgraded playground has been transformed into a pirate-themed family park and is open to the public free of charge. The goal was to create an immersive, imaginative, and interactive destination where children can run, climb, and explore in the great outdoors, while adding vibrancy and appeal to the lakeside community space.

      The playground was designed for children of all ages, along with their families:

      • Younger children: Safe, engaging play in the large sandpit, rocking animals, and low-intensity equipment.

      • Older children: Adventurous challenges such as the pump track, climbing wall, and rope tunnels.

      • Parents: Opportunities to join in and share activities, encouraging family bonding and active play together.

      Design vision and features

      • Distinct theme: Inspired by Pirate Adventure, complete with sails, lookout towers, rope nets, and decks for an immersive atmosphere.

      • Diverse experiences: Sand play, climbing, cycling, and non-powered activities to engage a wide range of ages and interests.

      • Open and accessible: Free entry for the public, encouraging community interaction and maximizing use of outdoor space.

      Uniqueness and challenges

      • Integrating large themed elements within the natural lakeside setting

      • Ensuring durability and safety in a free, open-access public environment

      • Balancing the play needs of both younger and older children while addressing different safety requirements

      HAGS’ role

      HAGS provided a variety of durable, safe, and engaging non-powered play equipment, customized to match the pirate theme. With a carefully planned layout and creative design support, the playground balances aesthetics, play value, and functionality – delivering an immersive adventure and an active play experience for children of all ages.
